LILY LANGER

Queen of Everything

Lily Langer, Fair Lawn resident of over a decade, is the resident Queer Jew of Koleinu. She manages the website, which is why she got the first spot on this list, and also interjects ideas and plans in short bursts of ADHD hyperfixation. She lives with her husband Danny and two terrorist children, Abby and Evelyn.

Lily's ideal Jewish community would be one in which the only intrinsic factor to being accepted is the link of being Jewish. The tapestry of Jewry is vast, colorful, and fascinating, and all facets would be represented and cherished in her ideal world.

FAIGY GILDER

Resident Mastermind

Faigy is a brilliant human being who created the Koleinu community out of desire to find more like-minded Jewish folks in her sphere. Expecting to find a handful interested outside of her existing friend group, Koleinu exploded in popularity in only a few days. Her enthusiasm and drive for positive change in the Jewish world motivates and inspires the entire Koleinu leadership team. Faigy has lived in Fair Lawn for some number of years with her husband, Ari, and two adorably mischievous girls, Yael and Orli.

Faigy's ideal Jewish community probably looks like something but I am not here so I can't speculate.

JUDAH RABINOWITZ

Managing Director, Fancy Dude

Judah has been in Fair Lawn for what seems like ever. Except when he totally abandoned Fair Lawn for California. But, he must like it enough that he came back! Judah is a genuinely honest human who gives generously and takes little. He thrives on seeing the connections made between all Jews in our community, valuing not only inclusion but equity as a core value. He also likes board games, but ok.

His ideal Jewish community probably looks something like Fair Lawn but without all the bad.

LEORA SKIER

Tired parent

Leora is great and really just wishes that we have a space in Fair Lawn that is equitable to all humans. She has a deep knowledge and understanding of Torah and can speak to it well. She talks the talk and walks the walk. Despite being a tired new parent of an adorable newborn, she focuses energy on Koleinu and projects that better the Jewish Community as a whole. She is a genuine person who ensures that her voice is heard, loud and clear.

Her ideal community is probably not Fair Lawn (yet).

AVI SCHWARTZ

Events Dude

Avi and his wife Emily and son Liam have only been in Fair Lawn a short while. Their drive to improve the town that they live in is evident from their first few weeks here. Avi has a judgment-free-zone attitude and enjoys including many diverse folks in his social circles. He enjoys how nerdy Fair Lawn is, and uses that to his advantage to gain social leverage due to his insanely amazing cosplays.

His ideal community probably is something. I am guessing he has an opinion.

SARAH BACON

Is there a gender neutral way to say Secretary?

Sarah is truly an amazing human. She is gentle and kind and extremely laid back, but there's a passion and a fire in her that comes out when faced with injustice and inequity. She has lived in Fair Lawn for about 6 years with her husband, Bezalel, and children Rami and Naomi. Sarah embodies the core of "I want to make the world a better place".

To be honest, it's hard to guess what Sarah's ideal community is - but she can't stand for a community in which everyone is not respected equally.

Faigy's husband. Genuinely kind and caring individual who wants to do right by everyone. Wicked smart. He lets his wife's talents shine, especially in initiatives like this, and takes a back seat to the spotlight because Faigy really really deserves it.

His ideal Jewish community is probably one where his house is not backyard neighbors with a shul.
